    I'd say a revolver....and by the look of your hand...a 38

it could have held any number of different makes of firearm.

it does not say military to me, as it's a concealed over the shoulder rig.

although.....that flap is an older style.....
so maybe law enforcement is possible...
    Any marks on the rig?

    Hello.
The size of the holster is in the photo, there is a ruler
I bought a lot of antiques at customs.
There is a suspicion that this holster was brought from Argentina, because other items from this lot were also from Argentina.
On the inside there are traces of some kind of inscription in paint, it can be seen in the photo. But nothing can be disassembled.

What do you think is the model of the pistol?
    45 caliber - Colt 911 or another?
I looked at different holsters from Colt, but they use different fasteners. There is such a clasp on the Walther 38 holster, but the holster is different

    The 1911 Frame System

Government frame: the "Government" frame is the full-size pistol. Barrel length is 5 inches, for an overall length of 8.25 inches. Height is usually 5.5 inches, and width is typically about 1 inch at the slide and around 1.2 inches at the grip.

There was a Colt 1911, the Sistema, produced in Argentina, on Colt machinery, from around 1927 until maybe the 1960's. If I remember correctly, Colt even provided training for factory workers. Parts for these will interchange with US manufacture Colts.

There was another, nearly identical pistol, the Ballaster-Molina, which was not of the same quality.

If the estate has other Argentine items, it's reasonable to guess that this might be an Argentine police or military holster. That's only my guess, though.
