Type of stone/glass in this stickpin?

    When you look at it straight on, it's kind of like a cat's eye, or a "star".
    Looked at from the side, it's pretty much clear.
    The stone measures about 4.8mm in diameter.

    Oooo I do believe you are correct! Thank you ever so muchly!

    What does one call this shape of stone? It's not a cabochon.

    Too bad it is only in a gold filled (if that) setting. :(

    I'd call it a ball. Moonstones do come with the catseye effect. It has to be a chrysoberyl, if memory serves, to be properly called a catseye stone.
