Two swords, one at a time

Probably hit 90 both of them. They don't have any children so they asked me to see what I could find on these swords that they have. He bought them about 50 years ago but doesn't remember where. He thinks that they go back to the Civil War. I'm going to post them individually in different posts so as not to confuse the two. Any help you guys can give would really be appreciated. And also, where could I take these two to get them the best deal?
    There is some writing on the side, and the Scabbard is made of wood with wrapped leather, I think... I have more pictures but I can't upload them

    The one shown here is Russian, late 19th C but the inscription is in English.
    REsize your pictures to under 1 megabyte each. Please select 'full image'
    Ypu can probably edit your posts to select full image even now.
