Hello again. In the past my guesses haven' t helped, so this time I'll just ask away: can anyone offer any help at all in identifying these two objects, their likely place and period of origin? Unfortunately, I know nothing at all about when or where they were bought (they were on a shelf at my mother-in-law's home). Thanks in advance!

Both figures are around six inches or 15 cm high. The bird weighs around 320 g and the warrior 470 g.

They look to be crafted from soapstone? The stylized 'eagle' figurine could be Syrian?

That would have been my guess, but I didn't want to steer people's thoughts in any particular direction. My actual knowledge here is zero!

It does not look like these two figures come from the same place or period..

The bird looks Egyptian.. Maybe in the style of an Ushabti? Not sure what it has on it's head

    Horus.

I'm not seeing an example of Horus with a garment much below the knee.
Looks feminine. Were there Horus priestesses?

    James.

Oops - I was looking at Sam Hills pictures.

Anyhow, the bird (falcon) is Horus.

And would you agree with Sam Hills that the two figures are unrelated?

That was my first thought, as well. The bird looks Egyptian, the human figure looks Mayan. Who made them, and where, or when is debatable. They appear fairly recent attempts at replicas, IMHO.

What a helpful place this is. :)

That's certainly possible, as it could have been acquired during the same trip to South America as the other item I asked about yesterday (https://www.antiquers.com/threads/stone-pendant-and-chain.58674/).

We're not expecting these pieces to be anything other than replicas made for the tourist trade, but some of them are too interesting to just take to the charity shop / thrift store without at least knowing a little.

We'll probably donate or sell some of the items we're asking about, for space reasons and to save the next generation some work (!), but it's good to know more before deciding what to keep.
