I am not finding anything about either of these artists. Neither are great or valuable paintings.

The first seems fairly accomplished so maybe a regional artist. John Butler is a common name so I think this would be difficult to attribute any way. The style did not match any known John Butler works I found.

I think the second is probably factory art. Produced purely for decoration.

I agree with Brad (because it's a good way to be right ) and I couldn't find the artists on my lists either. I would add that I like the first one for its quaintness and quirkiness... I can picture it showing a deep South (USA) shanty, complete with Spanish moss, or a far East Asian shack with cypress trees. Maybe a botanist here can confirm which is likelier.
Also, hola and welcome to the Forums!

I believe that the first one is Australia for two reasons. One, that looks like a gumtree in the foreground and two, I'm in Australia lol

Aha! So it's a downunder shanty with a gumtree! I'll still stand by the quaint and quirky, and I still like it!

Edit - Didn't think y'all had tree moss like that, but Google tells me I'm wrong. :)

Since this is Australia, you may want to try and look at local resources. Australian art seems to be under-represented in the international data bases. I don't know if there are any good Australian art resources or not. Maybe some others here would know.

I still don't think this has too much merit but I don't think it is factory art.

I really like the first one , but Im a sucker for run down cabins in woods ! I tried to find if Mr. Butler was related to Sian Butler , who is a known outback painter ,but no luck . I cant help but feel theres some connection ,how many people named Butler paint the outback ?
