Hi, I have two paintings which I believe are by the Sri Lankan artist Donald Ramanayake. I think one depicts the Adam's Peak mountain but I don't know about the other one. Can anyone tell me anymore or point me in the direction of where to find more information?

    Both paintings are 13" x 11".

Donald Ramanayake was a Sri Lankan Asian Modern & Contemporary artist who was born in 1920. Donald Ramanayake’s first artwork to be offered at an auction was A Drummer at Rosebery´s Fine Art Auctioneers in 2018. Donald Ramanayake was a Sri Lankan landscape artist. His early education was at Cathedral College, Kotahena and Trinity College, Kandy. As a young boy, he would ride a bicycle to scenic spots to paint, usually choosing secluded places screened by trees. Ramanayake took lessons from Mudliyar A.C.G.S. Amarasekera while he was influenced by David Paynter and the man he called his ‘Guru’, Alexander Sofronoff; who improved Ramanayake’s style and technique, while teaching him composition, blending of colors, rhythm and flow. Today Ramanayake is considered one of Sri Lanka’s most gifted landscape painters. The artist died in 1993.

These are beautiful, beyond mere "souvenir" paintings.
