    Hi folks,
Yesterday I bought a bit of jewelry, mostly well known amber but one of the necklaces is a bit of mystery for me. It looks like amber under UV, it is light and of a butterscotch color, but has some whitish specks inside. It also has some metal looking beads that are very light. Can you please help ID if it is real umber and is so, where from.
Also a pair of earrings I am in doubt - they look pot metal Czech with moonglow stones but I can't date them. Any comments or suggestion are mostly welcome. Thank you for looking!

The earrings. The centre stones glow under UV.

Nice beads, very pretty with those specks, but not amber.

Thank you so much, Any! What are they then, some light plastic? Any idea of place of origin?

That is what they look like.
It is modern costume jewellery, it doesn't have the characteristics of a specific region or culture. I am not a costume joolie, so I'm not the one to ask anyway.:sorry:

    Thank you very much, Any!
The strange thing to me is that they are not perfectly smooth like plastic ones are, but here and there have scattered whitish dents and holes (not only specks), like on corals and on amber, and also they glow, although indeed in a different tint than amber glows. I will post some magnified photos later. These are the reasons to ask about it. Probably they were made to resemble natural matter.

Thanks again! Very helpful as usual!

The orange ones are 1980s plastic for sure. Where they came from I haven't a clue. The earrings are more 1950 than 1980. Possibly closer to 1930/1940.

Another vote for plastic on #1. Those silver colored pretzel or knot shaped spacer beads are plastic, too. I had the exact beads on a plastic necklace i was repurposing. The white specs in the orange beads are probably just to make the color more interesting, maybe to mimic stone?

Also think that the earrings are 1940s plus or minus. Neat pair with the dangle, a nice look.

    Thank you, evelyb30, much appreciated!
Thank you, Lucille! Yes, the separation beads are too light to be metal, so maybe the same light plastic as the orange ones but differently colored.
The earrings are indeed nice but show significant wear, I guess their former owners also liked them :) I bought them out of curiosity, don't usually buy clip ons but these somehow attracted me plus were very cheap, I paid 2 USD for them together with a pair of 925 silver hoops (faux Bvlgari). I don't know is there is a way to brighten them a bit somehow.

So it can be established that the necklace is 1980s plastic and the earrings are around 1940s.

Thank you all for your comments and contribution, wonderful as usual!

The earrings look like very early clips, might even be pre war.

Thank you, OBB, your expertise is really welcome! I hoped you would comment as I know you are a true expert, thanks again!
"Pre war" you mean WWII? I have no knowledge on clips, no idea when they emerged and how they developed. Edit, I read that the clips were invented in 1930s so early clips should be pre WWII.

Now as I read your comment, OBB, it becomes obvious to me that you meant not during WWII (i.e. not in 1940s as written in my conclusive post) but before that which is good news. Thanks for it!
