Hello everyone! Hoping you can help me out with a few pieces that I won at auction recently. The first is a collar (missing a little button I would guess) made of what I think are amethyst chips. The second is a tiny sterling bracelet for a child or baby (1.75" across). What age do you think either of them are? Thanks as always :)

I would think rose quartz for the first piece

Could be! but in person they are almost a very pale lilac rather than pink-almost like they are faded. My presidium falls around the same line as quartz and amethyst.

I used to make collars like that.

Usually when I see those collars, they're glass beads. Never seen one in stone before. The bracelet was definitely for a kid.

I’ve got a collar necklace made with aquamarine chips somewhere.

I’d say this is older with that construction, maybe sixties even.

I totally missed a maker's mark on the little bracelet- a B inside a hexagon which was Canadian Burkhardt jeweller's, taken over by Birks so likely from the 50s-60s!

I think the collar is at least 60s. I was doing beadwork in 67-72 and that crocheted loop looks foreign made. I wonder what the bead looked like that was on the other side.

The other side would be one of those clever round knots, the name of which escapes me. Something head. Oh I know. Turks head knot.

Thanks everyone! Would the collar have been worn as I have it on the bust form or the other way around with the closure at the front?

    Closure at the back, definitely.

I couldn't remember either! However, I have seen them with a large bead. My friend and I moved to Boston together to go to art school and started selling bead jewelry to make extra money. We'd go to the MFA and look at Egyptian beadwork and copy it.
