    Hi joolies :joyful:

I got this very appealing vintage necklace on Ebay.
From auction pics, I suspected the stones weren't the fake reconstituted turquoises crowding the market :vomit:

Some ideas for the area of mining?

The mount is very well made, unmarked silver which was very tarnished, all links closed and soldered, back of stones full of grime.:stinkyfeet:

Beautiful, kyra. It is Chinese dragon skin/spiderweb turquoise, from Hubei province. I think it is from the Yungai (Cloud Mountain) mine, now closed.
Chinese turquoise is used all over the world.

Nevada turquoise stones rarely find their way outside the US, the demand inside the US is too great. US jewellery of this period is marked. This necklace isn't marked, so not American.
With more SW mines closing, even NA artists are using Chinese turquoise, and have been for a while, because Chinese turquoise resembles SW turquoise.

    Lovely.
Chinese turquoise is just as beautiful and diverse as SW turquoise.
