Trophy vase should I buy it?

At the local thrift store and came across this trophy vase, anyone recognize the maker or us it just a NO I item?

 

it looks like a roseville futura...but i don't know the line well enough to say more than that...

 

I like the monkey carving behind it.

 

Don't know anything about the vase, but I haven't seen THAT take on the "Monkey No Hear, No See, No Speak No Evil" before!!!!

 

It's not Roseville Futura (the bottom is wrong) but I do see the resemblance. I don't know who did make it but I would guess it's an import from Europe.

Well thanks guys, it's been there for a while and I'm always drawn to it. But I'll just have to wait for now. I'm thinking I should have picked up the monkey carving instead based on the reactions lol

 

Oh, it's not a bad vase. Has a nice architectural feel and the glaze is also very nice. But it may end up one of those pieces that is never ID'd and the pottery market is weak in general. Monkeys, on the other hand, seem to sell themselves.

Those monkey carvings sometimes do well. I don't know which sell, but some do.

For what it's worth, I like the vase. The green glaze on the handles looks nice and it has a very deco/retro feel to it. Very smart.

 

if the price is right...buy it !
