Holey Molely. I have a treadle singer sewing machine in my attic with table. Maybe I should put it out there. It's been up there for years. I don't use it.

It has to be a Featherweight.

They are easy to lug around going to classes.

    Model #221 is a featherweight.

I've known about them for a very long time, and even have posted here about them.:cat:

I have one. Teaching my grandkids to sew on one. Had to replace the pedal as there was a short.

I'm glad I stumbled on your post! We have what I'm pretty sure is a Singer featherweight out in the garage. We would never have thought in a million years that they are bringing those kind of prices. However, when I look on Ebay, there are plenty in the $200-$700 range. So I'm a little confused about what the difference is. Ours is Vintage, not antique, as there is a 1851-1951 century of sewing emblem on it. It looks just like this: https://singer-featherweight.com/blogs/schoolhouse/centennial-1851-1951
Where are the serial numbers located? I couldn't find the actual model number on the machine, nor the serial number. I think this was bought new by my wife's mother in the 1950's.

Featherweights came with their own cover. It's a portable machine, not one with a treadle in a cabinet.

They feel much lighter when lifting.

The differences in price could be due to condition..............or someone just hoping to cash in on a 221.

I've had a few to sell, but it's been a long time since I've come across any, so my memory isn't great.

Ditto, on it has to be a featherweight #221. Many people don't realize that they are pretty much the only antique/vintage Singer machine worth $$$ and try to list their other old Singers for the same type of price. In my area, one would be lucky to get $25 for most other old black Singers... though sometimes the wood/wrought iron table can help a non-featherweight achieve a little more since they make nice entry tables.
I seriously considered buying a featherweight around 10 years ago, pricing was $250-$350 US at the time and I decided that I didn't need one. It seems that now, one can still occasionally find good examples in the $400-$600 range but, if all the bells and whistles are present and correct, they can go for more.

Thanks! I found the number. AJ917382, so it's from around Oct 1950.
