    Hello,

I am looking for some help identifying the origin of these tribal carved figures. I am going to assume some (or all) are tourist pieces but tribal art has never been my strong suit so I hope someone can give me some details to further research! The first two when scratched give off a slight black residue on the nail which leads me to think artificial ebonizing (African? Shoe polish). The last one is actually a carved canister (from coconut wood it appears).

The first 3 look african , while the 4th looks Pacific Island , maybe a lime container of some kind.

    Hello,

I guess I should have added the size, the container is the smallest at 13" H and the tallest standing figure is 22" H and the others are both 16" H. I wasnt sure if the one with a cone on its head was African, simply because its face has a very pacific islanders shape to it, it almost reminds me of the heads on Easter Island. Thanks for your input!

    Ya.....Size matters !!!

So the bottom is no lime container....
But the 3rd is African.....maybe a Dogon style with that long nose , rounded forehead , deep set eyes and top finial.
