I had to buy it. Can anyone help me identify not only the region, but also what it is made of? And possibly the burn mark signature?

It's a decorated gourd, with a "Southwest Native American" style or design. No way to tell where it was made, however, since there are non-Native American crafters all over the country who specialize in this type of item. Every craft fair in the Western states probably has at least one booth that sells them.

It is unlikely that it is tribal, or made by a Native American crafts person, since they would sign so that a buyer would know it was Native American, and usually would include their tribal affiliation, since that would add to the value of the piece.
