Small oval tray, about 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 inches. There are 2 tiny touch marks above the flower on the left side, one a star, the other I don't know. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to maker/country of origin? And is this a card tray, or something else?
    Thanks!

Huh! Strange marks. The one of the right looks like the shape of a Greek urn (or oil container) the type with curved handles on the side. It's not ringing any bells, but might be from Hanau, I suppose.

Given the size I think "calling card tray" is reasonable.

Thanks for your ideas Bakers. It does not look like a letter is impressed in the star. I'll look into Hanau marks. That was my first thought, based on minimal experience with them.

Thank you INH! Seems a very likely match. Will report back if I find anything to add after I google around some.

I posted before seeing your last post with the photos. Your sleuthing reputation grows!
I haven't tested, and will, but I would be surprised if this was not silver.

Looking forward to learning what you find out. This just seems like an unfinished puzzle to me.

The tray does test to be silver. In searching, I got more results using Pedro Duran without Morales, and found info on current production here https://joyeriamiguel.com/en/hogar/pedro-duran/
Also lots of hits on ebay under Pedro Duran.

There is a whole book on Duran silver https://www.ebay.com/itm/PEDRO-DURA...122031?hash=item1a7a6d216f:g:5aIAAOSwa~BYRqMR

I am still not sure if my piece is older or modern production. The modern items seem to have fuller and more standardized marks than my piece. Any further thoughts on age of my piece?

Glad it tests positivity for Silver. I have no guesses as to age, only I think newer also. Thanks for the links and all your research. :)
