I bought a velvet (i think it's velvet anyways, it's more "fur" textured than silk) top
    hat.
It has "fish net" attached to it (Im struggling for words today, lol) so i believe it to be a ladies equestrian hat. Not all the netting in the photo goes on the hat, it was just extra free floating in the box (not original to the hat).

The logo i can not pin point. Everything keeps coming up stetson and I know it's not that.

Its hard to get a good picture because the gold is metallic...
It's two horses rearing on each side of a crest. At the top of the crest is a lion. Below it says Made in USA.

    Anyone recognize it?

I think these were usually done in some type of beaver fur. If you don't get help here try on this site. I stumbled upon this site a few days ago & they have all types of information regarding fashions & clothes. They seem like an extremely knowledgeable bunch.

Not Stetson. Their logo looks like a beaver & a griffin.

If you look under furs on that site & look for beaver (you have to click on the read more option) they show a top hat done in beaver fur.

Haha, ironically Lady Mary was who I thought of when I saw the hat

Its definitely a womans. You can tell by size alone.
I almost want to keep it for myself, but id never use it.
    Maybe for Halloween :D

Hopefully some horse enthusiasts will show up to bid on it..
You really dont see many top hats come through auction down here.
I saw 2 come through one auction about a year ago and they brought about $125-150 each!
They were mens, silk, and had the original boxes.

Does that Stetson moisturizer make you smell like a wet hat?

I must be getting old because I thought Auntie Mame when I saw the hat !

I wanted an Auntie Mame when I was a kid and then I wanted to BE Auntie Mame. I think my great-nieces and nephews and their friends would say I succeeded since I've taken some of them to Europe. ;)

Moleskin is not made out of moles. Or skin.

For many years I envisaged sewing together loads of tiny skins to make moleskin breeches, without thinking how improbable this was.

I'm not sure about the top hats but I do own a vintage black moleskin coat which actually is made of lots of small squares of real mole skins stitched together you could get brown moleskin coats too but they are rarer. So you could make some breeches AF if you wanted to!
I'll dig out the coat and post a picture
