I'm having trouble placing some plates and platters. Any display ideas? (Something other than hanging them on the wall)

This got me wondering about this:

What do you do in order to avoid drowning in stuff?

How often do you get rid of things that you no longer have room for?

How often do you rearrange things?

I donate some stuff to a couple of charity thrifts. Spare jewelry and textiles often end up in my church's clothes closet; we give it away almost once a month. Jewelry of any sort vanishes quickly. I also build holiday "no givebacks" gift baskets for friends and family. Some good stuff goes in those, including sterling too good to melt but too unmarked/common to sell.

I have to rearrange whenever I get something new now. I'm currently filling a couple boxes of "stuff" to take to Goodwill and the odds are becoming good that some of the random ceramics will go.

    Hi,
My old house had a double grooved plate rail around all four walls in the dining room. Needless to say it held a tremendous amount of plates and platters, Platters in the back plates to the front. I had five glass fronted lawyers bookcases that held a lot of plates and other china. In my kitchen I had very tall cabinets put in so the top three shelves (which even I could not reach without a step stool) held most of my Fiestaware over 800 pieces. I could always find room for china. Since I have moved in to this tiny house I had to scale back abit. Here are some of my ideas.

I had a "wasted" walk-through" space and I acquired these acrylic, wall mount book displays - only 2" deep, 24" or 36" long

My other "solutions" are my breakfast room and my "great hall of china" shown on my forum.................

    Hi Coreya,
That is what my last house looked like. Every inch was covered. My SIL came to visit and was speechless, she said it was too much, I had Llardos sitting in corners behind furniture. When I moved to this place I had eight full sets of china, six sets of sterling flatware, nine sets of silver plate flatware. two sets for 24. I cut down to three sets of china, one set of sterling and 4 sets of silverplate. I cut my Fiesta to 400 pieces in plastic bins in the garage, the rest is stuff I use it has nicks and bangs.
I sold a lot of mint pieces before I left. It killed me to sell my covered soup set. !2 pieces especially the turquoise one.
