This is a pair of lamps that I purchased today via a Thrift store....they are a pair of signed F. Cooper lamps....they are approx. 19 in Ht x 9 in wth....they are in excellent condition....they were priced $24.99 ea ...I got them for a little less than $20 ea.....I'm not sure of the value....but I do know that they are worth more than $40...initially I bought them with the intentions of selling them....but as usual, I'm getting attached to them.....so I'm thinking of keeping them for a while....I do plan to have them appraised...but if anyone knows the age or value...please feel free to share your thoughts..... rsz_1vintage_signed_f_cooper_lamps_20_ea_007.jpg rsz_vintage_signed_f_cooper_lamps_20_ea_008.jpg rsz_vintage_signed_f_cooper_lamps_20_ea_009.jpg rsz_vintage_signed_f_cooper_lamps_20_ea_011.jpg

I'd never heard of Frederick Cooper lamps. A quick search of eBay SOLD listings show that the most valuable ones are figural, or brass, or with painted scenes/designs, etc. Plain-ish ones seem to be listed for sale in the $50 range (each).
BUT... there may be something more to their collectability that I'm not aware of.
The marbled effect and brass base accent on yours are very nice!

I'm not sure what happened with my other reply??....so I'm going to repost....... 1stDibs has a pair of Frederick Cooper Blue ceramic lamps for $5,800....sometimes the people who are selling their items are selling them for less than they are worth.....I didn't pay much for these and they are in excellent condition....so I'm hopeful....even if I get half or even one forth of that price listed on 1stDibs for my lamps...that would be great

Ive been buying lamps lately...and often times they don't have the original lamps shades...and if they do...they are not in the best condition....but the body of the lamps have been in great condition... so thats good

If you can (and just my advice)... Always, always save the original shades. They can be recovered and that will maintain integrity of design.

Nice lamps, but as has been discussed here many times, 1stDibs is well known for their laughably high asking prices. Many a time I've ID'd a piece of furniture or lamp on 1stDibs and gotten a little rush of excitement by the asking price, only to go on Liveauctioneers.com and be brought back down to earth by the cold reality of sold prices. There are hundreds of Cooper lamps on Liveauctioneers and most sold in the $100-$300 range for a pair.

Ditto. Now I never even look at 1stDibs prices... totally unrealistic.

I'm okay with that....I paid less than $40 for the pair....so if they sale for $200 or $2000....it's a win win for me....and then the next day I purchased a pair of 3-sided Brass Elephant lamps by Tyndale and I found out that the manufacturer is also listed as Frederick Cooper.....so I'm good[/QUOTE]
