Featured To what extent could this crack on tortoiseshell be made less visible?

It's not a big crack but every time I see it, my heart aches as it's completely caused by the seller not wrapping it properly! It's impeccable for more than a century, until someone stuffs it into just an envelope!
I tried oil but it's still quite obvious. Do I need extra polishing?

Still the same. Didn't know it would be possible to restore it, so I was glad to see your question and finding the possible solutions in the other thread. Will give it a try... some day. Looking forward to seeing the results you'll get

 

You'll need some spare tortoiseshell pieces for the missing chip, otherwise I think is not a big task, but can't fault it for that price, and still perfect when enjoyed from the front
