Thanks for taking a look at this. It is cut glass with a silver lid (my poor eyesight can't find a mark). Think top is sterling.
It is only 2" and 2" wide at the widest part. What was it used for?

I'd say it was a MUSTARD POT. I have many, and I love yours!

Wow. 2 by 2 is really small! The notch in the lid was for a spoon, so jam? mustard?

    Hi,
I agree with mustard pot. Of course if it was a "breakfast set" it would work great with jam. Only having one piece it makes it difficult. I could see it being used with diabetic sugar substitute. I could see it for a small party of cocaine.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Not in the US in the period when this was probably made, Fid. Harissa would not have been used here then - too "exotic."

I'd clean the collar to see if a mark is hiding there.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Yes, I think it hand a small spoon at one time. It may have been part of a set but this is the only piece I have. Will try to get the collar cleaned a little more today and search again.

My first thought would have been individual syrup container, but there's no pour spout. So mustard it probably is, since no one put powdered cocaine on the table when this was made. It looks a bit late for the original original formula Coca Cola too.
