Found at a fair, I think from the marks on the back that it's Italian but can't read whatever is in the lozenge shaped mark which is making it difficult to date it - it could be 1934-44 or 1944-68. Any thoughts/ideas welcome :)

Giving you upside down and right side up.....cropped and sharpened....not sure I was able to help though......unless that's not the mark you were referring to!!

The shape of the mark suggests Italy

I don't think there are Alps in Portugal

Portugal made and makes designs for export to other countries, which are then sold as souvenirs. Same as Deruta pottery being sold in Spain. Many countries make filligree wares.

Thank you all, I had hopes for the lozenge mark but alas it doesn't hold much in the way of a clue.

Either way up, on the one side, I'm thinking the one mark kind of looks like a double stamped "S" possibly.......

These are generally Italian made, which is why this one has an Italian mark.;)

Portugal is just one of countless filigree making countries around the world. Sellers love to attribute filigree to Portugal because they think they can ask more.
(One of my pet peeves, so I replied.:D)
