I bought this pendant that looked old to me and I thought that it might be real stone, but I maybe mistaken. It has 835 stamped on the pendant hook, but as it looks loose, it might have been added post festum. I would appreciate your expertise.
    Thanks!

Looks fine to me. Tigers eye isn't costly enough to fake.

    Hi,
When I was in India visiting friends, they took me to a local swimming hole. I was just flabbergasted. The water was flowing over a 10 yard wide piece of tigers eye, six feet high. The entire stream bed was a huge piece of tigers eye.

An experience you will never forget! I tried to google that place, just to see what you experienced, but I could not come up with that "swimming hole"!

    Hi Judy,
I will try and dig out the photos of the place. It was really special although the locals just thought I was nuts.

I didnt know what tigers eye was until I joined this forum and I am gratefull for all the knowledge people here share.
Greg I cannot say I admire your courage, because I dont believe thats what brought you into that whole. It is worse than swimming in Gang river. Been there(didnt do that). I can only say that I can imagine what local people thought...

looks like it might be a Chrysoberyl cats eye to me. If so it is a nice example of one. could be very desirable, good ones are rare indeed. I have a collection of them and have sold a few over the years. They range from yellow to brown to green. The Honey colored ones are most in demand. some will show a "milk and Honey" effect which means when lit from the a side angle one side of the stone shows a milky white color and the other side is brown.

Chrysoberyl is a name of a gem stone variety that includes Alexandrite. Only Chrysoberyl is allowed the designation of simply Cat's eye. Although it is used for many other stones.....they must be designated by stone name like Emerald Cat's eye or Ruby Cats' eye. Only chrysoberyl should be called by simply Cat's Eye. In the early years almost all came from Russia.....now they can be found in sri lanka and Brazil.

I've always loved tiger eye. I can't imagine standing on a huge chunk. Some decades ago, I tried jewelry making. I found some of the supplies the other day and this 1" long tiger eye stone was in the box. I think the flat back side is prettier than the front. It changes and glows. I'm going to have to do something with it now that I've found it again.
