Hi, i can find a few things similar to this but they range from Italian to Wal-Mart pieces. I think it is probably not the latter because the gold on it appears to be applied in a more sophisticated manner. There are some similar pieces by Bill Fairman, but nothing that really matches close enough to think that would pan out. It has no markings on it. It stands a little over 6.75" tall and is about 3.5" in diameter at its widest point. Thanks in advance for any information or ideas on this.

There are a few places on the base that look like they are incised letters or something. Is that just an optical illusion? (often is in photos)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Whether just trying to bring out anything "Potentially" there, LEFT, OR Inverting the image, RIGHT, I can't really bring anything readable, at least to MY eye there....yes, there is something EXTREMELY FAINT there out.....but it would take someone better than MY attempts to maybe bring it out!!! It could be a lot of glaze on the bottom??

I saw it after the mentions but couldn’t make anything out even with a magnifying glass. I finally got the right light and angle and zoomed with my phone camera and it’s just an imperfection that was glazed over.

Just for future reference, Kevolee. "Gilding" can only be gold colored so you can say gilding without adding "gold."

That glaze reminds me of Israeli glass . Just thinking out loud.

Yes!, I was wondering about that and also if gilt and gilded are interchangeable or else if there is a difference.

Thanks, I had heard of that before and it didn't come to mind. From what I can find out Israeli usually a glass piece, and this is pottery for certain. I can't get my mind past the tie dye thing and it does turn out that there are people who do make tie dye pottery, so I'll stick with that unless someone comes up with something more definitive.
