Tibetan dzi 9 eyes bead

I don't pretend to know the first thing abt jewelry-but discerning a 15K from a $88 Tibetan Dzi 9 Eyes Bead would seem a rather daunting task even for an expert (maybe ?).

 

It isn't, but there are very few experts.
It is one of those "don't you worry your pretty little head about it" things.

 

I'd call it a "buy something else" thing.(LOL) I know zilch about those beads or close to it.

 

Those were my thoughts-a subject too esoteric for almost anyone to understand.One Dzi went for 15K on Ebay !
It reminds me of some of the 'haunted' or 'possessed' items-you're actually paying the extra 5K for the $10 doll because of the back story.
If you enjoy writing it's a hoot albeit a bit immoral.

It appears to have their signature foot stomp on the bottom..

There has been a lot of Chinese faux/fake Dzi beads for over 30 years.

15K? They can go for way higher than that if they’re the real deal from e.g. the days of Jacques Carcanagues and similar in the 70s. I know people with multiple ones that they’ve hoarded since then.

 

Have friends who are true experts so if anyone seriously thinks they have one I don’t mind forwarding pics. I will see my friends in August.

They were already making new “old” ones in the 70s when I was working for an Asian dealer…

 

From what I've seen, they were making new “old” ones throughout the 20th century, possibly longer.
