Thoughts on this painting on silk?

I keep thinking it reminds me of the Mexican folk art paintings but this appears to be on silk. Could it be Indonesian or Japanese (am I seeing Asian rockwork)? It is large, framed under glass and not removed from the frame. Is this considered Batik? I have seen Batik fabric but usually it is more elaborate. The only notation was a sticky note on the that stated 'given as a gift 03/02'. Unfortunately, River decided she must rip that sticky note up after it stuck to her tail when she got the zoomies! The frame measures 35.32 x 33.32 in. Thank you for looking! back IMG_8472.JPG IMG_8473.JPG IMG_8474.JPG IMG_8475.JPG IMG_8476.JPG IMG_8477.JPG IMG_8478.JPG IMG_8492.JPG

It looks like batik tulis, hand drawn batik, but I have never seen 'minimalist' batik tulis like this before.
