Just a few pics of this weekends garage sale finds, The spoons, knife and the necklaces were all at one sale. The rest was at couple of others. Total spent = 17.00. The thin necklace and the anchor pendant necklace are 14k the rest is sterling. I didn't include pics of a couple of scrap gold necklaces. I've included pics of the markings on the spoons & knife for any that care, they are from right to left in order. 101_1783.JPG 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg 7.jpg

Do I understand from the blue "flags" that you've already identified the makers and pattern dates?

No the flags are just weight and value info, I haven't had time yet to look them up so any help would be greatly appreciated!:cigar::cigar::cigar:

I'm going to need close ups of the handles for everything except the Westmoreland knife. That one is the Enchanting Orchid pattern, first issues in 1950.

The makers are Saart Brothers, Watson Co., Alvin, Mechanics Sterling (the flatware division of Watson and Newall), Gorham, Ball, Black & Co. and finally Westmoreland.

I did some searching and found a reference to B B & Co as Barden Blake & Co. (same picture of the mark on spoon) but nothing else.

Looked in Rainwater's Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers for Barden Blake & Co and found only a location of Plymouth, Mass and a referral to see "Chapman & Barden." It does give a mark of B B & Co. but it's not a picture, just typed and no dates.

When you go to Chapman & Barden, all you get is a reference back to Barden Blake and a mark of C B & Co (again typed no picture.) Neither of these smiths are shown in 925-1000 or Sterlingflatwarefashions. I have no clue where else to go for information about the firm.

I must admit that the Ball Black entry in Rainwater does not show a B B & Co mark and gives dates of existence much earlier than the other items in the group.

This link is where I saw the B B & Co mark for Ball Black & Co. https://www.sterlingflatwarefashions.com/Silversmiths/SSB2.html
