Featured This time I have no clue about a porcelain piece. What is it?

My first thought was a fancy toothbrush holder. But when I looked at it closely it looked too old for something like that. There are no chips but the gold is very worn. There are no marks.

    What could it be?

Excuse the dirt. I just got it tonight and couldn't wait to post it. (I also don't want to waste the time cleaning it if it is a toothbrush holder.)

    Thanks! 100_7911.JPG 100_7912.JPG 100_7913.JPG 100_7914.JPG 100_7915.JPG

Looks to me like a cocktail pick holder I have somewhere, mine was brass filled with tiny swords, made in Toledo.

Looks like a pipe rack to me too.
Toothbrushes were generally kept in long porcelain lidded dishes.

Given it's period, I agree to pipe rack. And rather a dainty one.

That was my first thought as a possibility, too. But with the hole in the bottom, I don't think it would stand in a bowl of water well. The type I'm thinking of are generally made of glass, and have more weight to them.

    my 2 cents......

pipes of the period came in too many varieties , lengths , widths , for a standard hole to accommodate . Not all had straight shafts , and the tip of the mouthpiece was often flared and wider than those holes would allow.....

Whatever this is.....& I like toothbrush holder because of it's dainty fountain appearance ..... it held things of the same size and length !

    extra wide holes, below...

I wish for an end to global strife , a lowering of taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year , 100,000 new and refurbished lower income housing, 50% increase of Gov't funding to food banks, a ban on increased food prices for the next 3 years, a mandatory additional corporate tax of 10% on gross sales over 100 Million dollars,
    & a partridge in a pear tree !!

cuz we all know just how good broiled partridge in a pear coulis is !!!;)

Well, at least one of us doesn't know about that.
I was referring to the part about being a wife for a piece of clay.
    Whatever, I guess...
