    eep! Unless there's something seriously screwy with the photography or the base is screwed down to something a lot bigger...eep!

    I think it's just camera distortion. Maybe someone stood on a chair to get a better shot of the shade.

    Whoa! MOS may be right about distortion but it looks scary!

    I see what you mean. Perhaps the weight of the cast base is enough to keep it somewhat stable. Search "slag glass floor lamp" under "Price Results" at Live Auctioneers and there are many more that look equally top- heavy. Definitely not dog/cat/kid friendly!

    Do not think they went together originally. These lightweight iron bases were meant for a fabric shade.
