Featured This is a vase - isn't it ? Or is it part of something ?

It had some calcium and rust stains inside but looking at it I briefly imagined a burner and lamp chimney on top. Far-fetched I suppose.
Anyway - why so thick ?
A little frog thing on top would not weigh much, the exterior diameter is only
    2 1/8" (5.6cm). Glass thickness is just shy of 1/4" at 6mm.
    Overall height is 4 7/8" (12.5cm). Base diameter is 5.5" (14cm).
Googling "green cut to clear vase" produced images virtually all of which were more intricate.
The oil lamp search suggested this configuration is not correct, as the glass oil receptacle is shown attached to a base.
A perfume bottle turned up but unless this held cheap eau de mouffette it seems much too big.
Perhaps a cologne bottle missing a stopper with a fitted neck assembly?
Any ideas on it ? Age ? Origin ? TIA !

It's a stopper! For a honking great big Bohemian green cut to clear decanter.

Seriously ? Are we talking about a gallon+ decanter ? Haha - serious drinking ! So it would present like this --- 20190506_083703.jpg

That's it exactly - upside down.

The one in that Ebay link looks Italian, fwiw.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Wow -- I never would have guessed that!

That would help explain the crude finish on the top (bottom)...as it would not be showing when poked into the decanter. 20190506_085940.jpg

There you go. It might have been quite a squat decanter.

Whatever you have, it's newer glass.

At 5 inches, that is Not a stopper.

I think there is a silver rim missing, that is why it is rough.

My first thought was a tumble up something like this.

But 5 inches might be too short.
    Cologne missing rim and stopper?
    Ink bottle?

The flat rim at the base of the neck suggests tumble up to me too.

I'm curious (also uninformed generally !) - what indicates it is newer glass? Is it the thickness or the simplicity of the design?

"tumble up" is a term new to me. After a search it looks like generally a container for fluid with an inverted drinking vessel on top (to be quite generic about them). Would the term "tumble up" apply to non-consumable fluids like cologne?

I'm still with stopper. However, a tumble up is a US term for a set of carafe and tumbler. Not used for anything undrinkable.

    Might be the design.

A tumble up was meant to go by the side of the bed and held water. So if you woke in the middle of the night, you wouldn't need to get up to go get a glass of water.

I think the origin is probably European.
It's described as green cut to clear.
