Wonderful things continue to happen at the Museum of American Glass. Below is a message from our Executive Director, Dean Six:

Lovers of EAPG, lighting goods, oil lamps, kerosene lighting and to all of our glass loving friends, Greetings!
The Museum of American Glass in West Virginia (MAG) is pleased to share one really exciting story.
Oil lamp collector John Braxton Craven, Jr. passed away June 2, 2014 in North Carolina. By the terms of his will his extensive lamp collection and depression collection comes to MAG. We have been working with Peggy Craven, John’s surviving wife, to fulfill his wish. And what a task and joy it is. There are literally hundreds and HUNDREDS of lamps.
As of this week we have 21 pallets of boxed lamps and more yet to pack -- these are lamps, lamp parts, chimneys, globes, and brass components.
We will begin Friday evening, October 10. We will work three shifts each day, October 11 and 12: Morning until lunch, Afternoon until evening meal, and an evening shift. You may participate in any or all.
The idea is to set up a flock of tables and sort the lamps to various stations as we discern types, assemble complete lamps, discover duplication and celebrate the gems of the collection. Hands on learning. Note the lamps have been stored for decades in some cases and the wrapping and packaging show that.
We will ask that you call MAG to tell us you are participating. Meals both days are covered by anon. donors -- not fancy, but pizza and sandwiches or something….SO -- come hang out at the museum, enjoy fellowship and LEARN about lamps AND help us learn!
October 10 in the evening, all day Saturday, October 11 and until late afternoon Sunday, October 12 –- as you wish! Call to confirm your participation: 304.269.5006 or email: wvmag@ma.rr.com
    Looking forward to seeing you,
    Dean Six

Yes, that would be quite the unpacking job but how much fun to uncover all the treasures.
