The Scarlet Letter, 1878

I collect coins, but haven’t really looked too deeply into books; They’ve always interested me and upon finding a few old ones, in good condition, I figured I would give it a try. This book was purchased for 6$ I believe, I couldn’t find it online and was wondering if it’s genuinely 143 years old and what would that mean for it’s worth? any information is greatly appreciated, Jake.
