Terracotta Boar

    I was wondering if anyone could tell me where from and what era they think this terracotta boar may be from. He is on the side of a pot which I understand originally was the top of a much bigger pot. Looks like he may have been painted blue at some point. The pot is blackened inside.

    That is interesting. May I ask why you think that? I was wondering if he could be a copy of the uffizi boar. There quite a lot of similarities.

    There are, but it is not quite the same. Yours has one bent front leg and a curly tail, the Uffizi Porcellino doesn't:

    Would it be possible to know the size and to see the base? Also any evidence of marks?

    There are no discernible marks as far as I can see. Please see attached dimension for width and about the same for height. Regards Kate
