Teapot with Cow on Top - Maker/Age?

I loved this little teapot with a cow perched on top. At first, I thought it might be a creamer until I saw the holes in the top and bottom of the handle - obviously to let steam out. I can't read the impressed mark, which I think is "?R?ANOI?" with various other marks, numbers and a 3/4 Pint. It is 4 /2 inches tall and 7 3/4 inches from the tip of the spout to handle. I think it is silverplated, but it also could be nickel.

I'm guessing it is from a set but searching hasn't pulled up anything like it. Does anyone recognize it, or can you read the mark? Any ideas, thoughts or comments will be greatly appreciated. (Oh, I used two posts because the last bits maybe helpful in identifying the maker or age, but I ran out over the acceptable number of photos.)

Given the cow, I'd guess it's for hot milk.

I wondered about that. Terrific point. I thought it might be for one cup, but milk sounds good.

Not hot milk, we'd shudder at adding that to tea. And I'm not seeing an insulator on the handle.

I have a Sheffield plate teapot that looks similar. As Owned said - no insulator on top. They usually have bone or ivory inserts as insulators. The one on top of mine is ivory and if you look closely at the handle you will see bone discs between the pot and the handle so you don't burn your hand picking it up. I think that bovine is a later addition. IMG_3259.jpg

It's hotel silverplate from the looks of it; maybe the cow was a reference to the establishment rather than the contents. The lid is hinged, and that's usually inidicative of commercial ware.

Excellent to know. Those holes have to be for something, so small teapot without insulator?

Thanks for the observations and showing us your piece - very nice and Sheffield too. I see the insulators. I'm sure the heat would heat up the bovine, as you said. Maybe a novelty piece rather than a useful object.

Great insight. Perhaps, a small hotel with a cow motif or name. I can see your point about the hinged lid. Thank you.

Ah ha. I found one with bird finials. So cow may be original
