    Hi all,

Need someones help with a tea cart. I has a metal label that has paine furniture company boston maine and a number on the very bottom that says 2958. I was going to paint it, but I don't want to ruin it if it's an antique. Can anyone help ?

    Thank you

Uhh...I wouldn't paint it, if it were mine. At least not until I completed some due-diligence research.
I don't know a damn thing about furniture, though...it may be ordinary, but seems worthy of pause to determine potential, if any.

I have something like that..... at least those wheels..... which I damn near destroyed by rolling it over a gravel driveway..... they bust up real bad...

it was in my Moms house in the late 60's...early 70's..

We had a tea cart like that but it was metal. My mother put all the booze my father received for the holidays on it and it collected dust in a home where no one drank.

with the amount of booze my folks had.... I should be an alcoholic ..... but it was mostly there as gifts and for parties...... none of us drank , although dad would have a scotch....but I hardly remember that at home.....and mom drank some wine...when I was just a kid.... but after that..... Passover & New Years only..!

I still have many of their used and unused bottles......:wacky:

No qualms about painting this. Not antique, nor a lot of demand/value.

Our tea cart was in the finished basement where my beloved grandfather would sneak down to and take a drink of scotch from a built in cabinet that housed more booze.

Hahaaa too bad she didn't pass it on. Maybe she thought they'd have guests who might want some and she'd be a perfect prepared hostess? My husband has gotten most of the regulars to switch to gifting food or cash instead of alcohol but whenever he gets some we tend to pass it on within the week to a happy friend or family member.

I have a friend who's spouse closed a restaurant and took the economy sized booze selection home. They decorated the tops of their cabinets. That was over a decade ago. It's still there and it's not the type that ages gracefully. :D None of them drink.

once in a blue moon my parents would have a party of their friends. And their friends drank quite a bit. Sometimes my dad would get food gifts from Harry & David.
I would have no room for a tea cart here anyway.

Sweet of her to be ready for friends.

Bar carts were really popular among the younger gens for what feels like several years. I'm not sure about the last few as I've seen them less, but for a while every new home decor layout had one. I didn't understand the appeal since most were never moved from their spot, and a cabinet works just as well (with less dust), but some carts have charming design.
