Tang Horse 2nd attempt

Well this is my second go around with the Tang Horsee. Hopefully I’ve gotten better over the years. Here’s my original post back in 2018 with the little 9” reproductions.

The last image will show the difference in size from that post. This one is 20 inches tall by 20 inches long. I haven’t seen a comparable one for sale on eBay. I would like very much any knowledge you can share. One of the ears has been poorly repaired, however, all four legs have been repaired and the base with two repairs, all very well(see images). Whether a Tang Horse, an old reproduction or new, I still find it a beautiful piece. Of course hoping for the best. The horse’s mane stands out a lot more than the photos show. I might add, the lighting was over exposed and drowning out the deeper blue that only shows up in a few unhighlighted areas.

 

Ooops! Almost forgot this image. You can’t see it in this, but I can make out finger prints on the inside. Now all I have to do is run it through the FBI data base.

There is one in a museum in San Francisco. I had a postcard of it and it was one of the first things I painted when I started doing colored pencil. There are quite a few different ones and some repros. Hard to tell when they were made. It could be a copy from a museum store
