was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about my grandfathers tally counter

 

a sight better than a tally wacker...!!!

Oh...& you'll need more and better photo's for a concrete ID !!

 

It also might help to know what business your grandfather was in.

 

Looks more like a watch or stop watch.
Isn't a tally counter something that counts how many? So you are clicking each time you want to count and add on.

Komo, that's sort of what I thought... the I thru XII, etc, etc - but then again, I know nothing about it! (I just had to make it big enough to actually see it.)

 

well, once you see it...it becomes kinda obvious...
the only thing this counts....are the hours in a day.......
make that half a day !!

 

Its definitely not a watch only has one hand and moves exactly one space everytime you click the top. My family is a long line of farmers.

 

Well then it's a very rare tally counter..in the shape of a standard pocket watch.

 

here's the only one I could find that even comes close......
