I didn’t see a way to add this to the existing thread, my wife thinks these should keep the tarnished silver patina intact vs a gentility polish?

This is the perfect group of Dealers, collectors and experts at this stuff, would these be more desirable polished or left in the original state showing age, what would you prefer or your customers like better?

if it's silver , it most likely started out it's life looking like silver.....with that nice gleaming shine.

Wouldn't u like to look younger......the cups would too !!

I personally like an aged silver....with glowing highlights.......so when I polish , I like a two toned effect...

The water cups aren't very old, so by all means polish them.
With repoussé like that I do like a bit of contrast, so don't polish the life out of the recesses.;)
Using a sunshine cloth is best, but if you use liquid polish make sure you rinse the cups well to get rid of any ugly residue.

I'm criminally slothful...so rarely polish silver. As-is works for me, unless the item is black with tarnish. Good luck!

If I was keeping them, I'd do as Any Jewelry said and polish with a sunshine polish but leave enough dark so that the detail shows. If I was selling them, then I'd leave polishing up to the buyer.

Thank you all for comments, so here is the full scoop I lightly cleaned one with the intention of cleaning all 3 I was careful not to take the patina off the rim entirely gentility wiping the rim with a non abrasive tooth paste and only a very quick wipe on the silver ornaments with a well used rouge cloth.

    this was the result. IMG_2024-06-28-085713.jpeg

    I say polish!
IMHO, silver doesn't have patina, only tarnish.

I'd start with a thumb and work from there. Skin acids take off tarnish.
