This painting was in a local auction but I missed the auction. Was curious to see if the artist was identifiable but looks to be by someone who had some skill but never got well known as I couldn't find much on the signature. Thank you for any info!

To my eye, the signature could be either
Sosti or Sesti 71

 

I've racked my brains trying to make some sense of it !!

I am seeing a lot of pixelation, I think it might be a print on canvas.

 

Could well be "Sesti," an Italian surname. Very dramatic. What did the auction house say about it?

Thanks guys! The auction just titled it as signed original oil painting. They are not very good at describing their items. Reminded me a little of Russell Drysdale works from the hot desert like scene but not quite the style. I didnt get it but thought it was pretty cool whoever did it. Thanks again for the responses!

The pixelation is in the photos. It's there in the first photo as well and continues through the frame.

 

Gosti/Gesti or Sosti/Sesti ....maybe one of those.
