Studio Pottery Jar With Lid

Really neat stoneware jar with a Manatee as a finial for the lid. Has palm trees and beach design around the jar. Signed on the bottom Dewey. Measures 5" tall and is 5 1/4" wide.

 

Nice piece of better than average studio pottery, but of recent vintage I would think.

Somewhere, packed away at the moment, I have a similarly resist-decorated jar by Dewey, same shape and notched lid, but without the manatee - pretty sure his card is in it (not really helpful since I'm not sure where the box is). Purchased at an art show here in the Orlando area, believe it was late '80s, because I also bought one for a friend who was leaving Florida, almost positive the potter was Florida based and male, but can't recall if 'Dewey' was his first or last name (pretty sure mine is signed in glaze rather than impressed, so the dating is likely a bit different).
