I had this doll up for sale and someone emailed me that Annette Himstedt never made dolls with shoulders.I'm not an expert but I did find some dolls that eas artist proof. The first dolls were porcelain, but she began to make them porcelain and vinyl. The early one if I'm not mistaken was artist proofs. The person who emailed me couldn't understand how the signature is right but said this is not Annette dolls.Need a little help.Any body have any idea how the name is right but not the doll.I was sell for repair or parts. No wig or clothes, feet are correct for barefoot series SAM_2022.JPG SAM_2024.JPG SAM_2012.JPG SAM_2012.JPG SAM_2032.JPG SAM_2026.JPG SAM_2029.JPG

That is definitely Ellen. She was produced in vinyl in 1986 as part of the Barefoot Children series. AH did produce dolls in porcelain as well. What I question about this one being an artist proof is the 26.8.1986 date on the back of the head. By then there would be no need for a proof since the doll was already being mass produced. I'll see if I can track down any info.

I don't believe that doll is an artist proof of Ellen from Annette Himstedt. The quality doesn't look up to par with an AP. What you may have is one of the counterfeit dolls that were produced. Ms.Himstedt had issues with a company who was knocking off her dolls. The knockoffs were smaller, finished less professionally and had inferior construction. Annette's Ellen did not have green eyes and the facial painting job would have been so much better on the ones officially produced. The body type is not correct either, as others have stated.
