Storage Find:Help identifying Aztec Stoneware Warrior Sculpture

This item came out of a storage I bought at auction.This owner appeared to have travel a lot.he had many neat items.This one is a sculpture of what I believe is maybe Aztec.Old stoneware sculpture.Almost look like a plant stand but it's not deep enough

 

This is a Huastec figure of "elderly", I think. Or an interpretation of it

 

And yes, some of the original ones seem to have this void in the head

Given the different colour clay and the more rough texture, yours could be a replica. The eyes are also different from what I usually see on Huastec figures.
Is there an expert on pre-Columbian archaeology anywhere near you? At a university maybe?

It is unlikely to be stoneware though, even if it is recent. Stoneware is fired at a very high temperature. These are called terracotta.

 

I have some terracotta figures,this one is stoneware.There's the University Of Memphis but because of the virus I can't take it.This storage I bought had many items that were high dollar items.The owner passed,he was a hoarder.This statue was packed very careful.I'm not sure but the way he had certain items packed I was thinking this is real,but I'm not sure,that's why i put it on here.Thanks

 

Yes, that is a problem. Maybe you can send them photos.

 

There are many good copies, and some of them old-looking, so indeed it is better to send them photos and ask. Better if several specialists see it because the opinions might differ.
