Sorry I can't help on the shop itself, but I DO remember sodas (egg creams!) and ice cream served in "vases" like that in the 40's-50's.

The only thing I remember about a Stone's building is 2 Columbus circle was designed by Stone (architect). We called it the Stone building until the Museum of Art & Design put their name on it.

I got an egg cream once when we visited NYC just because it was so exotic. Wasn't impressed.

    Hi,
Chocolate egg creams have no cream or eggs. HOWEVER you must have Foxs' You Bet chocolate do not use Herseys. Otherwise it is not an egg cream.

    Really?????
    Particular place?
I may pay through the nose and take a Verrazano crossing since I never have and I watched it being built.

KOT, Greg is right, it must be Foxs' U Bet or it isn't the same.

However you can buy it online at different places. I found some on ebay, here is one

And in addition, look in your local supermarket and see if they have it.
Many supermarkets still carry it today-- in the ice cream aisle or the drinks aisle, etc. Or they might get it for you if you ask.

Then buy milk and seltzer and you are on your way to a yummy egg cream.
    :)
