    Also if someone could tell me what type of stone.
    About 5" tall and the weight is almost 4 pounds
    There is some writing scratched into the bottom but i can't make it out.

    Try searching killiktee pond carvings.
    Just started looking there and I see some carvings like yours.

    I think it might be Inuit and by one of the Killiktee carvers, I assume it's a family of carvers as there are several different first names online.

    @komokwa might know

    Isaac Killiktee from Pond Inlet, born 1948.

    That initial looks like a J to me and there seem to be quite a few Killiktees. Are you familiar with Isaac's work or is that a guess?

    With all the other scratching on the bottom it could be an I or a J or a T. I just hope it's not the J that is going to trial for murder :inpain:

    While Killiktee is a common name in Lake Harbour there is only one in Pond Inlet.

    BTW, the piece likely dates to the mid 1970’s. There is very little coming out of Pond Inlet these days.

    I’m talking about listed artists not telephone book entries. Not everyone up North is an artist.

    I love him! I have a small collection of Eskimo pieces.

    Would Mike's be made of soapstone?

    I googled to see if there was such a thing as red soapstone, and I see that there is.
