IMG_6702-2.JPG IMG_6701-2.JPG IMG_6703.JPG IMG_6699-2.JPG IMG_6698-2.JPG I'm guessing wildly here but this looks to me like a light switch plate except without any holes to mount it. It's a very dark mottled green stone - malachite? Is it Mayan? Inherited from my mom who may have had it 50 yrs or so. It's 9 1/2" long, 4" wide and about 1/2" thick. Feels cold and heavy. Would love to know anything about it and any ballpark value as a charitable donation (less than $50, more than $100, millions???)
    Thanks!

Hello, mired. Green serpentine would fit the bill. If you think you saw basalt here, erase it from your mind. :D

Your object is a decorative reproduction of a pre-columbian Peruvian "tumi" knife. I suspect it may be made of a cast stone + resin composite, but I am not sure. I just can't see anyone taking the time to actually carve such an item.

    This is a real one:

They are popular as souvenir/decorative motifs:

This is why we need better closeups of material on both sides, it might help to make a determination on this.

Back in the 60s-70s there were popular reproductions of the Mexican "Aztec Calendar" made using a stone composite, very similar in color and appearance.

I think you're right, it's way overpriced. But since it means "good luck" maybe that's what the seller is betting on :)
