I picked up this Stevens and Williams vase. Stevens and Williams pieces seem to have a wide range of values. I am guessing that a piece like this would come at a premium. Is this correct? Does this style have a particular name? What would make this vase appealing to the collector? The applied flowers and strawberries?

How did you arrive at the S&W attribution?

If it is my local Stevens and Williams you are talking about, just a few miles away in Stourbridge, the auction firm called Fieldings Auctioneers, in Stourbridge, handle a lot of S&W glass and have a very good expert on it. I know them very well and I expect a decent picture or two would get an opinion.

You got it, af. I contacted Will Farmer, their glass expert.

Very good advice. Will Farmer knows a great deal on Stourbridge glass. Fieldings annual glass sale is superb.

Do let us know what you find out. There are a few on liveauctioneers that looks similar to yours also attributed to s&w but sold for less than I'd have thought. Some I think had a little damage, how is yours? Is that a chip on the foot?

Impeccable condition without a single blemish! I can see where that foot would appear chipped but here is a close up of that same foot.

I think this looks right. No reason to doubt it being S&W looking at the photos. Valeu? Meh. Right person, right day needed!
