Someone else will probably find it before me (i’m on the road) but for some reason it looks dutch to me.

She's not wearing Dutch shoes or clothing. Without any other markings (like on her back?) I'm going to guess somewhere in South America.

What about it? I tried looking for those initials in the US and Canada (both longshots anyway) and got nowhere. We know it isn't English or French or German Or Swedish or Finnish or Italian or Russian or any of the other countries that use non-Latin letters. Maker lists in the remaining possibilities are almost non-existent, at least that I know of.

Those are Latin letters.I think it's Dutch, B. W van Eldik.

What I said above was that it wasn't from a country that uses non-Latin letters.

If you think it this Dutch guy, great. How did you find that name to even look for?

Can't really see the B in their example picture, but it's close enough, I guess. Maybe too small an item for the other marks it should have if it's Dutch pre-1950?

I was distressed to find that 925-1000 has removed the picture collage and footnotes about old Dutch markings from the Netherlands page, leaving only the table of Date Letters.

Ah oops! Ignore what I said about looking at VE... the mark isn’t VE duh... these are the results of trying to do this on my mobile phone.

A bit late, question already answered.:)
Just a Dutch voice wanting to say @MrNate you were absolutely right, this strainer screams Dutch, although the style was copied in other countries.

Dutch shoes are not that different from other W. European shoes, the only possible difference being that more people could afford silver buckles.
The clothing of this milking maid was already seen on Dutch 17th century paintings. The straw hat the girl is wearing is also common in Dutch costumes, it comes in different shapes and sizes.
Pretty standard ca 1850s Dutch (Zeeland) clothes, straw hats, shoes in the picture below. Silver buckles on seated woman's shoe and apron, and on men's trousers. Silver buttons too, and of course Zeeland coral and gold necklaces.;)

    Any Jewelry,

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I love to hear from people who know more about a topic than me (and you know MUCH more than me).

I think it is a general farming thing. Good for carrying pails of milk or water.

But the Dutch have immortalized it in a charming statue, in the village of Wijngaarden, South Holland province:
