Bought this last week. Marked STERLING SILVER 925/1000 FINE, and has a picture of a unicorn on it, facing left.

Anybody recognise the marks or how old it is?

    It's about 8in by 4in.

Unicorn mark. Anyone recognise it? I think it's actually Pegasus or something like that. I dunno.

The 1903 end date for the existence of the firm (given on 925) seems to match the date at which Mauser merged with 2 others firms to form Mt Vernon Company Silversmiths (given in Rainwater.)

If that ribbon thingy inside is supposed to be a monogram, that is the most unusual font I've ever seen!

If someone had the initials MW it would be fabulous as it would read the same either way and look beautiful doing it!

I'm not sure what it is. The lady I bought it from, and one of my friends, thinks it may be. But I don't see any real resemblance to letters.

I think it's just meant to be curly and cute.

Defintely a monogram, typical Art Nouveau, and beautiful.
In the Netherlands Art Nouveau used to be dubbed spaghetti style, here you can see why.

As already suggested, the engraving is 'MW', the lettering was typically called 'Ribbon'...
