This little honey is just adorable! It's twice the size of the other one and was half the price. I'mma keep this one and sell the other one.

The hallmarks are a Lion Passant, a Date Letter and an Anchor for Sterling, Birmingham, 1895. The maker's mark, if there is one, has not been found. I don't see it anywhere.

And I don't mind saying - whoever the hell polished this thing did a craphouse job of it. Not only are the marks almost invisible, but they polished right through the silver on the lid. I put in the leather liner to hide the holes. They're only teeny pin-prick holes and only three or four of them, but I'd rather not see them.

A Q-tip with silver polish will clean the marks a little better. Does the word to the left of the marks say open?

I don't know what it says. It LOOKS like OPEN, but it isn't. It's just a coincidence. It's on the base, as well.

A Q-tip won't work. The marks are almost rubbed entirely off. And there's no maker's mark anywhere.

When you enlarge the photo.....is what looks like the "o" in the not-really-word "open".....could that be a right facing "face"???? Sort of looks it to me.....but I can't get it any clearer either.......
