Featured Sterling ring… Age and type of stone, please?

    This fairly heavy ring was blackened with tarnish when I bought it but polished up nicely. Any ideas on how old it is, origin, and what type of stone? The only mark is STERLING in block letters. Stone is 21cm x 6cm. Thanks!

    The ring could have been made by a hobbyist,student,etc. any time in the last 40 years.

    Not Native; it's commercially made. Where....dunno. I don't think it's horribly old.

    Malachite indeed. That sterling mark would never be on a hobby or student piece. I agree not very old: it isn't European, if that helps.

    Don't know what country you live in,but a $6 sterling stamp has been available from dozens of suppliers for over 50 years and used by students,hobbyist and anyone else wanting one in the USA.
