Sterling Over Wood Box

    About 3" tall with the lid. Any suggestions on country of origin?
    There is some smell but I can't figure what the box was used for.

    It looks Mexican to me. Snuff bottle sounds right.

    Not sure what it was made for but doesn't look like it was used for anything....yet !
