I give up. This small spoon was sold as the title suggests as a sterling Monkey God spoon. I googled that name endlessly and only found one piece slightly similar, so I am not able to confirm the title. It is small at 4 1/2" long. Try as I might with my loupe shining on it, I couldn't find the word sterling or 925 or actually any mark on it at all. It is somewhat crudely made, so there are variations in the surface where I thought I saw a "S" of a "9" but it was all my brain trying to "make clouds look like animals."

So, I am asking you all for any thoughts. If the esteemed spoon member, @DragonflyWink, might like to weigh in that would be wonderful. It will go into one of my spooners, but I would like the correct information attached to it if possible.

Certainly looks like it could be Hanuman, the Hindu monkey God.
Spoons featuring Hanuman are usually made for pooja or yajna, Hindu rituals, but the style of those is different.

I'll tag @kyratango for you, because the spoon could be from mainland SE Asia, and she is our Indochina specialist.:)

Perfect. That confirms the monkey part. I look under the correct name then. Thank you

    I see Hanuman too:)
It seems to be part of a set of coffee spoons made perhaps in Cambodia for Westerners.

Thanks very much. This is why I couldn't find anything then. Just a tourist item.

I enjoyed every moment of these articles and the youtube video. I was ready to add this to my souvenir spoons, but you saved me. I so appreciate you helping me with this. The history gives the spoon so much more interest. I shouldn't be amazed at your breadth of knowledge, but as always, I am in awe.

    Wonderful info, Cheryl, thank you.:)
And you just solved a mystery for me.:woot::woot::happy: I have a silver egg cup with those coins, and believe it is the same work. It is getting late here, I'll take a picture tomorrow.
